On Sunday, May 31st from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, the Bedford Police Department will be hosting its THIRD Annual Bike Rodeo to be held in the upper parking lot of Bedford High School.

The goal of this rodeo is for the Bedford Police Department to provide its young community members with valuable safety insight that will protect them when riding their bicycles on and off the roadways.

Proper equipment and adequate education of the rules of the road could save a child’s life if ever that child were to be involved in an accident while riding his or her bicycle. The rodeo will include safety inspections of bicycles, helmet fittings, and safety lessons for riding bicycles on the roadways.

These services will offered by Certified Mountain Bike Officers of the Bedford Police Department. These officers will also set up activities and obstacle courses for the young riders of all ages to practice the skills they learned. In addition to these activities, the rodeo will also include the opportunity for community members, young and old, to register their bicycles with the police department. Should a bike ever become lost or stolen, this service could prove to be beneficial to the recovery of the bicycle.
