The Bedford Parks & Recreation Department to host “National Senior Health & Fitness Day” on  May 30, 2019, from 10 AM to 12 PM.  This is the 26th Annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day which is the nation's largest annual health promotional event for older adults with activities in all fifty states typically on the last week in May and falls during Older Americans Month. The common goal for this day is to help keep older Americans healthy and fit.



Local agencies and businesses will be available to provide tips and information on many healthcare and fitness topics including: nutrition, fitness, healthy habits, medications, scams, caregivers and coping with chronic illnesses such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.  This event is free to the public. 



Jane O’Brien, Bedford’s Parks & Recreation manager said, “We are hoping to make “National Senior Health & Fitness Day”, an annual event with our goals to make exercise fun, to increase awareness of the benefits of regular exercise programs, and to encourage older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness programs offered here in the Bedford community.



In addition to an event like this, the Bedford Recreation Department offers regular fitness programs including: Ballroom Dancing, Zumba Gold®, Gentle Yoga, Intermediate Yoga, NEW Chair Yoga with Marissa, Easy Tai Chi, Tennis Lessons, Archery and much more.  Please visit our website: www.BedfordRecOnline.com
